Moviegoers still have a taste for horror as Candyman [CNDYM] debuted with a better than expected $22.37 million. The film attracted an audience that was 53% males and 59% aged 25 and old. However, they gave Candyman a B CinemaScore.
After a two week reign, Free Guy finished second with $13.55 million, advancing its total to $79.3 million.
PAW Patrol: The Movie [PAWPT] took third with $6.63 million, down 50% from its debut. The animated film has fetched $24.1 million.
Jungle Cruise [JUNGC] crossed $100 million in its fifth weekend with $5.0 million. Don’t Breathe 2 [DNBR2] rounded out the top five with $2.83 million and $24.6 million after three weekends.
Respect [RESPC] earned $2.27 million for the sixth spot and $19.7 million overall.
The Suicide Squad [SUIC2] grossed another $2.03 million for a four-week sum of $52.8 million.
The Protégé [ANA] held a reasonably well 57% of its opening at $1.65 million for a running total of $5.7 million.
The Night House [TNTHS] dropped 57% in its second showing to $1.2 million. The total sits at $5.2 million.
