Arriving a couple of weeks ahead of its namesake holiday, Halloween Kills [HALW4] continues the story of 2018’s Halloween, which surprised Hollywood with a $76 million opening weekend. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her iconic role once again to face masked killer Michael Myers. The R-rated sequel was delayed a year by the pandemic, which along with poor reviews, have tampered anticipation. Making matter worse, Universal decided to make Halloween Kills available for streaming on Peacock. Knocking on 3705 theaters, Halloween Kills could tally $36 million.
After impressive preview numbers, No Time to Die [JB25] turned out to be more frontloaded than expected. No Time to Die could drop 55% in its second weekend to $24 million.
The first Venom slipped 49% in its third weekend. A similar decline would put Venom: Let There Be Carnage [VENM2] at $16 million.
Matt Damon reunites with Ben Affleck for the medieval epic The Last Duel [LDUEL] directed by Ridley Scott. The R-rated actioner is target at older adults, a demographic that has not completely return to theaters as evident by the Bond film. Booked in 3065 theaters, The Last Duel may admit $15 million.
That’s the whisper from the virtual trading floor.
