Sing 2 [SING2] leads the new releases in second place with $23.76 million. The animated sequel has banked $41.0 million since opening on Wednesday. It received an A+ CinemaScore from an audience that skewed 66% females.
The Matrix Resurrections [MTRX4] summoned just $12 million to open in third place. Also available on HBO Max, the sci-fi sequel has downloaded $22.5 million over five days. The mostly male moviegoers gave a poor B- CinemaScore.
The King’s Man [KTSS3] debuted in fourth place at $6.35 million and $10.0 million since Wednesday
Opening on Saturday, American Underdog [AUKWS] looks to score $6.2 million for the fifth spot.
West Side Story [WSDST] finished with $2.8 million, bringing its total to $23.9 million after 3 weekends.
Expanding wide to 786 theaters, Licorice Pizza [LCPZA] served up $2.33 million. The P.T. Anderson drama has totaled $3.7 million.
Opening on Saturday, A Journal for Jordan [JFJOR] could book $2.2 million.
Nightmare Alley [NMALY] dropped 54% in its second weekend to $1.3 million. The thriller has grossed just $5.4 million
