Proving there’s a market for family films, the sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 [SONC2] led the weekend box office with an estimated $71.0 million. The debut would be more than what the first Sonic the Hedgehog did in its four-day opening of $70.0 million. Audiences gave the film an A CinemaScore.
Last weekend’s top film Morbius [MORBI] tumbled 74% to $10.2 million and $57.08 million after 10 days.
Lost City [LOCTD] finished third at $9.16 million, advancing its total to $68.85 million.
Ambulance [AMBLN] was dead on arrival with a $8.7 million debut. The actioner skewed 62% males and 77% over 25.
Expanding wide to 1250 theaters, Everything Everywhere All At Once [EEAAO] earned $6.06 million. The cumulative totals sits at $8.45 million. The fantasy attracted an audience that was 64% males and 61% over 25.
X [XTW] brought home another $359K bringing its total to $11.28 million after 4 weekends.
