Showing there’s life left for a 27-year-old franchise, Scream VI [SCRM6] opened atop the weekend box office with an estimated $44.5 million, beating the $34 million debut set by 2000’s Scream 3. The horror sequel attracted an audience that was 51% male and 71% between the ages of 18-24.
Last weekend’s champ, Creed III [CREE3] finished second at $27.17 million. The sequel declined 53% in its second weekend to bring its total to $101.36 million.
65 [65] debuted in third place with $12.3 million. Audience gave the sci-fi actioner a C+ CinemaScore.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania [ANTM3] earned another $7.0 million to push its 4-weekend total to $197.98 million.
Cocaine Bear [COCAB] was fifth at $6.2 million and $51.66 million after 3 weekends.
Jesus Revolution [JSREV] $5.175 million in its 3rd weekend for a sum of $39.45 million.
Champions [CHMPN] scored $5.15 million to open seventh overall. An audience that was 56% female and 83% 25 or older gave the comedy an A CinemaScore.
Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre [5EYES] dropped 59% in its second weekend to $1.28 million. The action comedy has earned $5.56 million.
