The Minions remain a force at the box office as Illumination’s Despicable Me 4 [DESM4] led the Fourth of July weekend with an estimated $75.0 million and $122.60 million since opening on Wednesday. The animated sequel topped Despicable Me 3’s $72.4 million in 2017, while falling short of Minions: Rise of Gru’s $107 million in 2022. Hispanic moviegoers made up 41% of the audience.
After three weeks at the top, Inside Out 2 [INOU2] finished second at $30 million. The Pixar sequel has accumulated $533.824 million.
A Quiet Place: Day One [AQPL3] dropped 60% in its second weekend to $21.0 million. The prequel has grossed $94.36 million in 10 days.
MaXXXine [XTW3] arrived at $6.705 million, topping X’s $4.275 million for the best debut in the horror trilogy starring Mia Goth.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die [BADB4.BW] rounded out the top 5 with $6.55 million to up its total to $177.359 million.
Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 [HORZN] tallied $5.48 million, down 50% from opening weekend. The western has banked $22.192 million.
Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot [PSMTR] took in $3.220 million over the weekend and $6.811 million since opening on Thursday. The faith-based film received an A+ CinemaScore.
Kalki 2898 AD [KALKI] grossed $1.834 million in its second weekend, bringing its total to $16.5 million.
The Bikeriders [BKRDR] earned another $1.30 million in its third outing to take its total to $16.21 million.
Expanding to 920 theaters, Kings of Kindness [AND] managed just $860K. The Yorgos Lanthimos film sits at $3.833 million.
Opening in 827 theaters, Kill [KILL] scored $384K for a 4-day total of $550K.
