Two new releases underperformed at the weekend box office and allowed Gomeo and Juliet [GNOME] to take the crown with an estimated $14.2 million. Disney's animated fairy tale has banked $75.1 million after three weekends.
Hall Pass [HLPAS] opened in second place with $14.2 million. With word of mouth and reviews poor, the comedy is unlikely to have legs.
Last weekend's top film Unknown [UWMAL] trailed off 43% to $12.4 million for third place. Fellow sophomore release I Am Number Four [IMNO4] also declined 43% to $11.0 million.
Summit's Drive Angry [DRVAN] stalled in the ninth spot with a debut of just $5.1 million. Even the promise of "Shot in 3D" could not entice Nicolas Cage [NCAGE] fans to see his second film in two months.
