Heading into the weekend, three new releases and two holdovers all had a chance had at the top spot. Bradley Cooper [BCOOP] and Limitless [LMTLS] surged ahead and came out on top with an estimated $19.0 million at the weekend box office. The thriler attracted an older audience that was 69% over the age of 25.
Rango [RANGO] stayed in second place with $15.3 million. The animated film has grossed $92.7 million through three weekends.
Last weekend's top film Battle: Los Angeles [BATLA] finished third at $14.6 million, dropping 59% from its debut.
The Lincoln Lawyer [LNLAW] debuted in fourth place with $13.4 million. The legal thriller skewed heavily to mature moviegoers with 85% over the age of 25, which should be a good sign for legs.
The sci-fi comedy Paul [PAUL] followed closely behind at $13.2 million. The majority of its audience was also over the age of 25 at 58%.
