Conquering the weekend box office for a second weekend in a row, Rise of the Planet of the Apes [RSAPE] earned $27.5 million. The franchise reboot declineb 50% in bringing its cumulative total to $104.9 million.
The Help [THELP] finished second with $25.5 million, and $35.4 million since opening on Wednesday. The period drama based on a bestseller connected with its target demo of older women as 72% was female and 60% of the audience was over the age 35. Great word of mouth should continue to fuel its box office.
Final Destination 5 [FDES5] debuted in third place at $18.4 million. 3D accounted for 75% of the horror sequel's box office.
30 Minutes or Less [30MOL] came in fifth with $13.0 million. The comedy attracted an audiecne that was 58% male and 69% under the age of 25.
Glee The 3D Concert Experience [GLELV] bombed, taking in just $5.7 million for 11th overall. The film only drew the die-hard gleeks.
