As hurricane Irene batters the East Coast and dampens the weekend box office, The Help [THELP] held first place for the second weekend in a row with an estimated $14.3 million. The drama decline just 28% to $96.6 million bring its total to after three weekends.
Colombiana [CLMBA] finished second at $10.3 million. Rather than attracting the young male crowd, the female assassin appealed to older women as the audience was 57% female, and 65% over the age of 25.
Don't be Afraid of the Dark [AFRAD] took the third spot with $8.7 million. The horror film connected with females under the age of 25.
In its fourth weekend, Rise of the Planet of the Apes [RSAPE] grossed another $8.7 million to up its total to $148.5 million.
Our Idiot Brother [MIBRO] debuted fifth overall with $6.6 million. 70% of the comedy's audience was over the age of 25.
