there are patterns you can sometimes rely on. examples:
horror movies almost always delist less than adjust, unless it gets great reviews or buzz like insidious
family films usually exceed their adjust, unless it gets many bad reviews,
then there are the special time of year patterns, like films released just before christmas will delist much higher than adjust
you could try keeping track in a spreadsheet, films adjust, their delist, the genre and the mpaa rating. use a formula of "delist amount / opening weekend" for its delist multiplier.
but most players dont play the rules, they just trade the stock like sheep. so if you think holding a stock is the correct play, but you see it going down, thats just short term trading, if holding long was the right play then youd make your profit eventually
