I recently got a Blackberry, my first smart phone. I would like to be able to follow the movie forum, and make a few trades from my phone. There are problems, potentially involving HSX structure, the smart phone and browser in use, and the size of the portfolio. In my case, I have a Blackberry Curve 8900 (classic style), using Opera Mini, and I have a port with nearly 2000 securities.
The Blackberry can't begin to load my portfolio, if I log in to the main site. The other main obstacle is that the HSX nav bar (menu) does not function on the Blackberry. I'm not sure how well other mobile setups may do, but, I would like to hear about it from others, so please post, below.
HSX does have a mobile page at hsx.com/mobile. On a desktop PC, I can see that it is intended to display the top 20 gainers and losers in your port, depending on link selected. But, it doesn't work on the Blackberry; nothing comes up. Even if it did work, the mobile site has forums listed only as "Coming Soon."
This explains why requests are posted on the Support board every couple of months, for an HSX mobile app. It does not appear that such an app is going to happen, anytime soon.
I have realized that I CAN log into HSX, access the forums, and make trades, if I avoid the portfolio (by logging in via my watchlist), and avoid the menu (by using a little page of bookmarks to get where I need to go). In using this page of bookmarks, I go to the desired page, such as the movies forum. If I see news on a stock, I can back out to the links page, then go into the trade page. Or, maybe go to the search page, to bring up the moviestock page, to see how it's performing, and how I'm holding it. I can trade from there, too. Another way to use the links would be to open them in separate tabs, in the browser.
So, I'm making my HSX Mobile Links page available to others, in hope that it will be helpful. KaiGee has agreed to host it, so there will be no ads in the way.
Here's the link: HSX Mobile Links page
I'd like to know if it's found useful, and I'd also like to know if anyone else has solutions for using HSX with mobile devices.

...talk (here) about _using_ HSX with mobile devices. NOT talk to each other on our mobile devices, about HSX! {nm} edzep Feb 09, 14:50

Surprising, your port loads, and menus kind of work. How big is your port? {nm} edzep Feb 09, 19:26
Maybe related to OS, and memory footprint. I have BB OS 5. {nm} edzep Feb 09, 19:48
hmm. I have BB OS 4.2 and around 1,400 securities. {nm} Andre C Feb 09, 22:11
My Motorola Atrix plays nicely with HSX, and my port is (slowly) approaching a billion... but an app would be great. {nm} Chefbobcat Feb 09, 20:19
