I've gone from ~750 to low 500s this year so far...
... and I pass inactive players all the time. Pretty sure that's the reason it's been relatively easy to jump that far towards the top of the learderboards.
Everything up until I got into the 500s was relatively easy to move up. Now I'm getting into some competition and much larger gaps between players that I have to close ($5-10M between ranks instead of $100s of thousands).
So basically, good active players can consistently gain many many ranks very quickly for a long long time.
