It is worth it, but it has definitely taken a hit in credibility.
If you reshort, the accessible cash you acquire up can go to other stocks and you can make profit off that freed up cash.
The reason the credibility is hit was because reshorting was a no brain procedure during 'no commission' weekends. But with that being scrapped, the effectiveness is definitely diminished.
