If anyone bothers to read this, well, then, just know that I am not leaving HSX, just refraining from anymore Forums indefinitely--and here's why:
I hadn't really ever posted on any forum in the 10 years on HSX...earlier in the Summer (while there were still gains in my port), I posted some advice and it was met with lukewarm to tepid responses. Then, in August, I began questioning why such heavy losses on practically anything and everything in such a short period...and I received mostly hateful responses without any real help.
- No one bothered to read my posts...that's right: Some went right on to outright bashing clearly without reading anything I wrote, or read a little and then took everything out of context, and at least one person literally attempted to copy & paste my comments but actually changed the words I used when responding!
- FYI: Saying "Neil, you're lost" or "Neil, you don't understand how the rules of the game work" is NOT helping! By saying "help" was given to someone is extremely condescending, like some sort of male chauvanist pig would do after beating up his wife and then offer to "take her to bed." It's condescending, but it's NOT help.
- So, what did I ever do to upset anyone? Well, let's see...my posts might be long compared to some, but here is a typical post from me:
I explain what I've been doing here on HSX since I joined (aka "an introduction"); I then proceed to describe the problems (called "a development"), then I speculate on possible causes & solutions (aka "a conclusion). There...my posts have a clear beginning, middle, and end.
But what I think resonates with so many people (enough to respond anyway) is obviously something I wrote hit home with them...therefore, depending on the person, it could be by calling out a few who have openly admitted to having multiple ports (Deny it all you want--but once more OlegMax & RotoHockey are blatant manipulators aka cheaters by their own words--not mine--and yes, this affects everyone including you and me).
Or, was it basically identifying overall flaws of the game that could apply to anyone, really, and then many feel backed into a corner, so, instead of conceding the point (heaven forbid), they resort to saying, "Neil, it's just a game" (as though I wasn't aware of that from the very beginning.) If you don't know, then don't respond, and certainly don't respond with "Neil, you don't understand how this game works" when YOUR the one who evidently doesn't know how the game works--otherwise you'd just say so and we'd all be done already!
In conclusion, I want to remind you...I never boasted about my "success" but in introducing my situation, mentioned slow, but steady gains over 10 years aka upward progress. I had a strategy...it worked. While I'm not on HSX every single day, I'm on here most days for 10-20 minutes. I've always played HSX games and earned interest on cash and owned dozens of MovieStocks, many dozen more StarBonds, at least 10-12 Derivatives, and 10K each of 7 different StudioFunds. I never joined any HSX leagues as I didn't find it necessary and I was okay having never appeared on any LeaderBoard. If you surpassed the H$174 million mark (my top net worth) long before me then good for you! That means you're strategy is different than mine so okay, but I was still on track to slowly tick up a 10th of a percent in the percentile every 2-3 weeks...making me #1 in literal years but #1 eventually nonetheless based on my strategy.
The game HAS changed much over 10 years, including HSX opting to no longer offer HSX rewards (e.g., 'Redeem H$' for hats, pens, t-shirts, etc. all bearing the HSX logo for H$15 million & shipping). Coupled with the inability to sell one's port on eBay etc. I may just discontinue invesments on HSX altogether, focusing only on playing HSX games passively (thereby spending 5 minutes max. most days on HSX), and referring to HSX for general info on upcoming films only.
