when a movie is opening on a Friday - then the stock is HALTED from price movements, UNTIL it is adjusted on Sunday by HSX based on how much the movie earned from Fri-Sun ESTIMATED box office x 2.7
For example: If MOVIE is priced at $30 on Monday...the price on it may move up and down until Friday - when HSX will HALT the price at (let's say) $25. The price is then frozen and NO trading is allowed on that stock until Sunday when box office figures are reported to HSX and the price is adjusted at that time...and the price is then frozen till reset Sunday night. After the adjust, the price of the stock is then again subject to market forces, until the movie delists by HSX after the 4th weekend.
So if MOVIE is priced at $25 when it halts on opening weekend, if it earns $10M for the WEEKEND, then HSX would adjust the price of MOVIE to $27 (2.7 x $10M= $27).
The only time a movie stock price is halted for trading & price movement is during its opening weekend. After that (and before that) its price is subject to people buying and selling the stock...or shorting and covering the stock.
Hope that helps.
