A few insights into my methods...
There is a secret webpage that gives you the current price of every security whenever you load it up. HSX has only given that info to a few people. I have a macro on my website that pulls that info every 15 minutes and dumps it into a database. The portfolio value tracking and player ranking is a straight data scrape of the HSX site pages anyone can view. I have a macro on my home PC that I run once a week and dump the info into a database which I then upload to my site. Also once a week, I scrape all the security pages. HSX doesn't like it if I do it more often than that. I once had my IP address black listed, they thought I was DDOS attack because I was hitting so many pages so fast. I can hit 10 pages a second on a good week.
My site homepage has chorts for 90 days of total # of securities and total all in cost with a table that breaks it into each type of security. Total all in is currently 3,785,320,700.
Has anyone developed a market average or index that would track general HSX market value? Feb 15, 14:01
