I got beat up! I'm currently in the ICU at University Hospital... [More-->}
Tuesday evening I was at a local pub (bars are open here in Texas) and I overheard a couple of oil field workers (roughnecks) who had been laid off due to the pandemic, and were worried about how they were going to feed their families.
FYI: I trade commodities daily, specifically crude oil futures, so I took the liberty of chiming in with my 2 cents:
"Hey! If you're so worried about feeding your families, then what the H*ll are you doing in here? You're not going to find the answers to life at the bottom of the bottle!" I said.
Well, they didn't think that was funny...I explained how I trade oil futures and then they blamed ME for the price of oil going negative last month, causing their company to go bankrupt! I responded that their industry supports terrorists from countries like Saudia Arabia through OPEC--
And that's when it happened: Before I could finish with my Liberal, bearish rhetoric, one of the guys hooked me right in my left ear...All I could hear was a dull ringing as I was knocked out of my chair onto the floor. As I lay on my right side, I used my left arm to block--but to no avail. The 2 guys were punching and kicking me until others attempted to stop them.
An ambulance eventually came for me as I told the bartender & bouncer that I don't think I can walk. The 2 guys left and I was told that I was officially banned from there. Police came to the hospital yesterday and took a statement but nothing is going to happen to those guys.
As for me, well, I have a cast on my left forearm as I fractured my wrist. I've got nerve damage on the left side of my mouth and my lower lip is all swollen. There was blood coming from my nose but they didn't break it. However, there is permanent nerve damage also in my left ear, approx. 90-95% hearing is lost. In addition, while being kicked in the chest, I suffered a pneumothorax (my left lung collapsed), so I needed surgery to have 2 titanium staples in my left lung and there are stitches that I will have removed maybe tomorrow but I will have 5 scars there forever.
Maybe I will be released this weekend. Anyway, I thought you would want to know...perhaps because of this experience, I will finally have learned the errors of my ways. You see, this is not the only forum where I am mostly disliked:
As a futures trader, I am a "regular" on Investing.com and usually when I comment other regulars there reply with "Shut up, you rat!". Unfortunately, that is not the only other forum I post on.
Anyway, the hospital Chaplain will be in soon to talk with me. I have much to confess.
