I have this nasty habit of shorting and then when the stock hits .01 I sit there and do nothing.
The short has made all the money its going to make. I don't know what I'm waiting for.
Sometimes I WILL BUY the stock when it hits .01 and if it makes something before delist so be it, and if it doesn't the amount i lose in commission is so little, chicken feed, that it doesn't hurt. if i'm paying attention, the day trading that will occasionally move a .01 up would more than make up for buying all stocks at max that are .01 with the risk of them dead delisting (if they're old).
I have this tendancy to want to hold the short until delist, for completionist sake if nothing else. I was thinking that maybe what i'd start doing is, I'd sell the short, except for a specific amount, say 7 shares; that way i know that I'd held the short max and sold it at .01 whenever i see i'm holding 7 shares of a shorted position, and hold THAT until delist. Then perhaps put the money into the BUY position, looking for day trading to generate a small profit.
What does everyone do when it comes to holding a short position to .01?
Thanks!
