Question about it...
Posted by: Utech on Mar 26, 18:13 in response to Patient Player's post Yes, ca..1998
am reading through it and the program that determines the price movement is:
PM=(NMS/LMV)*SIV
PM: Price Movement
NMS: the net movement in sweep - difference in buy and sell orders of a stock.
A sweep increment variable (SIV) is defined as the increase or decrease in price caused by an incremental imbalance in the number of buy orders and sell orders. A lot movement variable (LMV) represents the incremental lot size that will result in a price increase or decrease of one SIV.
I am trying to figure out if these are calculated somehow, or if they are variables are set by an administrator, and then saved in the system as a constant. Also, if each stock has its own SIV and LMV, or if they all share a global SIV and LMV.

... HSX stock price movements, it seems that SIV is roughly proportional to the stock's price, but Patient Player Mar 27, 09:03
Correction: LMV is globally the same for all, but may be adjustable {nm} Patient Player Mar 27, 09:28
SIV is proportional to the stock price, but how do you think it is calculated? This is what got me stumped lol {nm} Utech Mar 27, 15:36
Look up computer programming examples of nested IF...THEN or CASE statements. (nm) Patient Player Mar 29, 20:12
Yep, I am more than familiar with IF/ELSE and Case Statements. But still, outside of programming, how do you think the SIV is calculated? Utech Apr 02, 14:54
However, I've seen many more transactions at low prices than at high.ones {nm} Patient Player Mar 27, 09:16
