Here is what happens

A few traders -- customarily and generally the same traders -- start buying a handful of stocks in unison moments after the 3 a.m. reset, exploiting a regrettable but perhaps unavoidable weakness in the system. A few purchasers start the ball rolling, then other traders observe the daily movement chart and the bandwagon gains momentum.  Delta House will occasionally cover and purchase a random stock (often one with a healthy profit awaiting redemption) at 3:01 a.m., just to watch that stock climb a dollar or two by mid-morning.  Predictable, these gaining-for-no-sound-reason stocks begin to retreat at noon or so, generally losing the day's entire profit by the next reset.  This enables the reset rocketeers to profit twice, on the bubble and on the burst.

Manipulation? Most days there is some obscure low priced stock that rises with no news, usually very early in the day, and usually on 1.2- terraformingearth Jan 15, 08:16

Bunch of Nonsense. Completely Void of any Evidence. Everybody can see who Trades Starting at RESET 12:10 AM. Bunch of Nonsense. {nm} RotoHockeyYTD2014 Jan 15, 11:08

It is NOT void of evidence. There are 1-2 million trades very early on obscure low cost stocks. Yes, it could be a group not colluding terraformingearth Jan 15, 11:46

Ha ha ha ha. What a devastating argument you present. Spoken like a true uneducated 12 year old. {nm} terraformingearth Jan 15, 12:47

Get an education. Start with standard English, focusing on capitalization. A personality transplant wouldn’t hurt. {nm} SenJohnBlutarsky Jan 15, 19:32

If you think that Manipulation has occurred, please present your Evidence, if any, to HSX who can see all the Trades. RotoHockeyYTD2014 Jan 15, 13:07

Curious about the timing ballpark_frank Jan 16, 00:30

My guess-& it IS a guess-is that is when the 1st of these traders decides to take their profits & cashes out, terraformingearth Jan 16, 04:02

Deltas have observed that to be the predictable rhythm, without considering the effect of the noon bell (plus we stole the wrong test) {nm} SenJohnBlutarsky Jan 16, 15:17

Playing the players is at least as important as playing the box office results or the (relatively rare) important news {nm} SenJohnBlutarsky Jan 16, 15:19

Playin' the walleye... reel them in, let out some line... LOL {nm} ballpark_frank Jan 16, 16:15

That is exactly what I was speculating was happening. Don’t know why roto is so offended. I don’t care terraformingearth Jan 16, 03:55

Making a trade at reset is not manipulation. {nm} Antibody Jan 16, 08:33

I meant nothing by it. Use "exploitation", or "gaming". I was just speculating why obscure low priced stocks would briefly rise every day. {nm} terraformingearth Jan 16, 10:09

People don't like being wrongly called cheaters. {nm} Antibody Jan 16, 10:25

Who did that? Did you comment on personally calling someone a dirty slimy rat bastard? {nm} terraformingearth Jan 16, 11:34

If you haven't noticed, the best traders on here are trend followers. Learn from it. {nm} ndmaster Jan 16, 09:51

Only if you are checking very frequently. If you leave a trending stock alone for 1/2 a day or a day, losses can add up quick. {nm} terraformingearth Jan 16, 10:11

Notice, I said "traders". Obviously, you have to be pretty active to be a trader. ndmaster Jan 19, 21:48

Been watching the 'trades' sites a bit more often - catch an "Real" breaking item now and then. ballpark_frank Jan 16, 16:46
