Whisper numbers is a great "cheat" - I follow it and sometimes change positions based on it.

But be careful - it can backfire on you if you short a call or put on a movie that either way under-/over-performs!  I think some people say to just buy the max of all calls and puts on IPO date (the Wed a week before opening), and you end up making more money than you lose.  I've also started buying both, and then reversing my positions closer to the actual opening of a flick - it is not a bad way to pick up just that much extra.
