Basically, here's how it works:
Posted by: Flash on Jan 03, 16:29 in response to StuartJHooper's post Need a little help!
You buy shares of a film "MOVIE." MOVIE is priced at $10/share... you can buy a maximum of 75,000 shares (until HSX raises the limit to 100K shares this month).
In this example, MOIVE is priced at $10/share, and it opens in 30 days. You buy 50,000 shares. The price fluctuates up and down based on market conditions, and 2 days before MOVIE opens, it's price is NOW $30/share.... which means that players think MOVIE will open at the Box Office to around 11 million or so the opening weekend.
HSX "halts" the stock on Saturday, NO MORE buying or selling that stock until HSX "adjusts" the price BASED on how well (or how bad) MOVIE opened at the box office. In our example, let's say that MOVIE made an "estimated" $15M opening weekend.... so HSX will "adjust" the price of each share by the formula of 2.7 x 15 (since $15M was what the estimated box office was)... so 2.7 x 15 means the "adjusted price of MOVIE's stock is $40.5...so every share you bought (50,000 shares) is now worth $40.5 each... for a total of profit of $1,500,250... a good buy!
If the movie does NOT open well, then you LOSE money. All movies that open "wide" delist after the 4th weekend (which includes opening weekend)
You also may want to check out the "Help" section of HSX - located at the bottom of each page, along with the Glossary, FAQ's, etc... these may help you.
If you have 'specific' questions, ask away on the Players Board, and I'm sure someone will answer for you!
Welcome, and good luck!
