A reversal of fortune might be in the works for the US Marketing of this film! - We'll see.... it aint over yet!
The Cannes Film Festival premiere of the Jodie Foster-directed The Beaver just ended, and I'm told that there was a 10-minute standing ovation for the film and its star, Mel Gibson. Gibson missed the press conference earlier today but flew in just in time to support Foster and the film at the premiere. At that press conference, Foster said she made the film with a European sensibility and expected the crowd to be receptive. The film hasn't performed well in the U.S.

Reversal of fortune? HA! {nm} dsbman May 17, 13:43
Perhaps new ads touting "European sensibility" will help? Or, "if The Guardian hated it, you will love it." Or an ATLAS double bill? {nm} second gary May 17, 13:46
The movie and Gibson's career is dead in the States. {nm} secretstalker May 17, 14:04
iirc, wasn't the script on the top of the "black list" three or four years ago? I wonder how that script and the shooting script compare. {nm} second gary May 17, 14:11
Europe doesn't seem to care about US gossip, scandals, hates & likes etc. I'm not sure exactly what ticks Europeans off enough Facto May 17, 17:59
A ten minute standing ovation? I'm still trying to figure out how to get reimbursed for those other Gibson films. I'll pass on The Beaver. {nm} filmdemon May 17, 15:21
