The Sam Raimi Spidey films all sucked...Spiderman fans were just grateful to have the character on screen...
Most Spiderman fans that grew up loving the character from the comic books would have paid to see a Bay or even Bol directed Spiderman and would have grinned and bared it...Of course when James Cameron said he wanted Spiderman to be his next film after Titanic (which would have been great), that's when the clusterf*#& began and we ended up with Raimi. There is a generation that grew up with Spidey in comics and a generation that grew up with the character as informed by the Raimi films and the latter for the most part really like Raimi's 3 films (even though I don't see how any case can be made for Spidey 3). I, being a Spidey fan since 5 years old and having hundreds of comic books, HATE the Raimi Spidey films...they all suck...the first one was watchable, the second OK and the third was an unforgivable abomination against the character and it was certainly time for Raimi to go! This trailer for 'The Amazing Spiderman' looks VERY promising and I have hope that this time Sony is going to get it right! I hope Marc Webb's Spiderman is to Raimi what Nolan's Batman was to Schumacher's Batman...that's right, I equate Raimi's Spiderman to Schumacher's Batman films, I won't disgrace Tim Burton by linking him in any way to Sam Raimi.
