I'm liking this separation of the wheat from the chaff thing that's going on. It's become clearer in the last few days which traders on my watchlist I'm actually chasing, and which were coasting.

This little slump is a good learning opportunity for traders with a long-term view, in any case.

If you beleive that this market crash is a technical reality... Muad' Dib Sep 11, 13:27

quick question? how did you calculate 40 day moving avg? Oleg Max Sep 11, 13:33

p.s. my port is only down about 6 mill Oleg Max Sep 11, 13:35

Well first of all... Muad' Dib Sep 11, 14:27

no offense, but I am not the only one doing "that well" Oleg Max Sep 11, 15:42

I don't understand the logic behind why the site would artifically cause a crash. That sounds a bit conspiracy-theorish to me.. Ruthian23 Sep 11, 13:34

Day trading advantage has taken its toll IMHO. too much volatility of long term holds has caused me to sell more than 1 stock to avoid drama {nm} Rocket aka PVL Admin Sep 11, 13:47

And I'm still down 4 mil in 2 days. {nm} Rocket aka PVL Admin Sep 11, 13:47

I should also add that there are many sure bets losing money right now. If one's port is large enough, they can easily weather the storm. {nm} Rocket aka PVL Admin Sep 11, 13:53

If I want to play the volatile stocks, I have found 1/2 day trading is really needed. I but them in whatever forlorne Sep 11, 14:51

Because it's a game designed to 'simulate' the stock market Muad' Dib Sep 11, 13:53

Ok then, how many times have you seen this since 1998? Would you write a program for a one time event? So DMac must be causing it then. NOT {nm} Rocket aka PVL Admin Sep 11, 13:56

But the real stock market rises and falls based on whether people are buying or selling things on the market. Ruthian23 Sep 11, 14:08

its also September {nm} Moviesnob Sep 11, 13:55

Was just going to say that there is a sell-off at the end of summer every year.....and every year it's met with wonderment and speculation {nm} Scorpion Sep 11, 14:02

Same timestamp, even. {nm} edzep Sep 11, 14:10

In the real market for every seller there must be a buyer. Not so for HSX. Muad' Dib Sep 11, 14:32

Also there are not a finite # of stocks per security. {nm} forlorne Sep 11, 14:53

People mothball their ports until next summer? Happens every year to varying degrees for as long as I've been here. Scorpion Sep 11, 14:57

Don't we get a downturn at the end of each summer? edzep Sep 11, 14:02

Maybe it's because I am not spread out across a lot but I am up 1 mill today {nm} moovinut Sep 11, 14:54

There have been a lot of high priced IPOs & I imagine a lot of sell off to raise cash to buy into them. {nm} forlorne Sep 11, 14:54

I really honestly feel bad that I'm up a lot over the past few days. I like it when rising tides lift all boats, and I hate being an Paul2k Sep 11, 16:59
