Then I saw it on another of my fav hip hop sites. So I looked at it, saw there was activity on SOCMP and posted it to the HSX forum board. Simple as that. SOCMP is a relatively forgotten stock and the main point of the post, with nothing ever having been posted on this project since the HSX revamp, was to display that there is advancement w/ this project. I even noted in the body of the posting that JSING highlighted New Line's own separate interest in moving the project forward.
And you chastise me for it. Saying that this one paragraph gossip blurb reinforces your point? It sounds to me like you take issue with the Playlist article as a whole, in any incarnation. This article suggests that New Line MAY go ahead with another director, it does not say they aren't talking to JSING.
I work in the industry. I know what "in talks" means. It means a director has ongoing conversations with at least one of the main forces behind a project, beit the producer or the studio, someone who actually has some leeway when it comes to said project. And when the project is in as early a development stage as SOCMP is, with JSING having mentioned he read and thinks highly of the script in combination with his close relationship with Ice Cube, I deemed it worthy of the "in talks" moniker. Yes, I did. I made a judgement call. Sue me.
You got some sort of issue with my posting of news: sometimes you're probably right and sometimes I feel you're wrong. Should I have trusted the indian site on the RCMON story I posted? Probably not. Did Spike Lee admit that INSD2 probably wasn't going to happen a few months after I posted an article saying he was still developing it? Yeah. But everyone gets some news wrong sometimes.
But, among other examples, I'm also the person who posted news about WLKWD and JACKR that went previously unreported. Say what you will about the news is a month old or whatever. But then you yourself posted less than two months later that WLKWD might be RREDF's next project and only three days later that things were coming together on JACKR. Sometimes, like in the instance with SOCMP, I'm able to put the spotlight on activity on a project that might not show up on the radar of most others around here.
So, here I come with a pretty fairly straightforward news posting that's not that old...and you still find some slight way to dismiss it.
I know you're the Big Bad HSX Guy and I respect that. Shoot, I try to stay relatively passive when it comes to dealing with you, show deference to you and so forth. I've been playing since '98 and have been supportive through every incarnation of this website, even telling those who threatened to jump ship when they didn't like new changes to sit tight.
But, I'm not going to be harassed by one of the people that run this site every time I post news. There's no manipulation here. I posted that JSING was in talks on SOCMP and, yes, even after reading the Playlist article, I feel I was right in saying that. Grow up, DMac.
