I haven't seen a CTATU film, so I don't have an opinion. But you haven't defined your terms. And I think SSODE's decision to cast him...

... implies something positive on CTATU's behalf. But you haven't said what "being a good actor" is, and how you might separate that question from the kind of films he has been cast in so far. If "being good-looking" is a necessary criterion for getting hired, it seems unfair to then criticize someone for meeting a job requirement.

But think of Adam Sandler: do you consider him a good actor? What about "Punch-Drunk Love"? Do you consider him a good actor now? The people we see in mass-market films are almost always vastly more talented than the material ever displays.
