Welcome to the stampede. Would holding a (likely) 2015 release be the best use of funds for all but the largest portfolios?

Even if one believes the third Hunger Games film is to approach Avatar territory, what would be the return on investment?  If you are looking to park part of a billion-dollar account, your perspective may differ from that of someone who would be devoting 10 percent of a portfolion to a four-year wait.

The interesting part will be observing the ups and downs over time.  It is tempting to forget that most players have relatively small bankrolls, and that commissions are consequential for securities priced above $100.

Looks like Mockingjay is Catching Fire already :) {nm} b4bad Mar 26, 11:35

I've been playing on and off since 2001, I'm banking on this one to give me a good boost! Mama needs a new pair of shoes. {nm} Jeco Mar 26, 11:37

90 million shares went how fast its only been 2hrs 20 minutes {nm} blaze223 Mar 26, 11:41

This may be a dumb question, but I see the low was @ H$150 - am I correct in saying the IPO for those initial 90m shares was H$170? {nm} Jeco Mar 26, 11:45

Because DMac wouldn't leave well enough alone. Tanker Mar 26, 11:47

Yes. The IPO price was changed before the stock went active, and the old price marks the low point. {nm} RogerMore Mar 26, 11:47

Since most people have given up on IPOs, this is the first sure thing in a while. All the shares sold and it's only HSX 1/2 time! {nm} PVL Admin Mar 26, 11:50

I understand the excitement, but I thought we were not allowed to speak of current stock movements. PVL Admin Mar 26, 11:48

looked like a play on words to me {nm} blaze223 Mar 26, 11:53

Agreed, an intelligent play on words. BUT the effect is the same, "Hey everyone, HGAM3 has started to move!" {nm} PVL Admin Mar 26, 11:57

But he didn't say which way it was moving. {nm} Tanker Mar 26, 12:02

The dROI is going to be good for a little while... {nm} PVL Admin Mar 26, 11:53

+1 {nm} Tanker Mar 26, 11:54

How many of the most likely consumers of this one have the cash to buy or to hold? It seems reasonable to expect impulse purchases in DTXbro Mar 26, 12:09

I usually avoid buying very expensive stocks a ways out.. got killed by not jumping on the CF bandwagon too MiyazakiFan Mar 26, 11:59

While i realize that there will be many fluctuations before release time if the film was shown right now it would blaze223 Mar 26, 12:13

As fast as this sold with what seems minimal impact on the broader market i'd say the cash was pretty readily available. {nm} tradermark Mar 26, 12:51

No kid will ever go hungry! {nm} thatpj Mar 26, 12:48
