I was very surprised by the box office failure of "Whip It" (WHIPT)

I'm not in the US. But this film has a very good distributor Fox Searchlight (and Fox Searchlight is clearly putting so much effort to promote this film) This film's star power isn't bad; it has Ellen Page (the lead actress of "Juno") and Drew Barrymore. (Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore also have very much screen times in the tv spots) This film's tv spots also look very entertaining and commercial. This film itself also receives mostly positive reviews.
But this film opened worse than JBODY? I don't understand. Maybe you guys have better insight on it than me.
But it may shows that Ellen Page had better to go Vera Farmiga/Maggie Gyllenhaal route for her career...(focus on doing indie art films .... while doing few mainstream films for money in sometimes.)
