Sowhosawhat? (me - Savages: C+, Gantz: B, Zombie Apocalypse: C, Under the Boardwalk, the Monopoly Story: C-)

Savages: Again Hollywood, stop trying to make Kitsch happen. Its not going to happen. Dude got out-acted by Salma Hayek's cleavage. Lively was no better, and Johnson, well I'll give him a pass, but here hes mostly relying on scruffy facial hair as personality. Del Toro and Travolta (even with his new bizarre facelift) are 1000X more interesting than the leads. That type of ending? Ugh, I hate that. Overall not funny or actiony enough. Lulls open it up for questions like "how does del toro get from california to mexico in seconds?" and "why does hayek only have like 5 guys working in her entire multi million empire?" Its just never as wicked cool as earlier Stone or films like true romance, natural born killers, etc.)

Gantz: So close to awesome, cool premise, typical Japanese craziness. Wish there had been more happening, kinda pokey when they arent out doing (.....) Still, looking forward to sequel. Wish America could produce a few flicks like this.

Zombie Apocalypse: real bad syfy fx, but im a sucker for zombies. typical looking for safe haven plot, but it moves along at a decent enough pace. and ving rhames helps.

UTB: The monopoly story: A documentary about the game, but spends more time on the uninteresting people playing in the monopoly championships. For such a fun, unique game, its really boring

Any thoughts on Bullhead? GalacticPothealer Jul 09, 08:04

I liked it a lot... It's more of a psychological examination regarding a disturbed individual than it is a 'mobster crime film'. {nm} joeoftexas Jul 09, 08:08

glad you liked....check out Klown on July 27th (shameless plug). I think you'll like it too {nm} Moviesnob Jul 09, 09:15

I like character-driven flicks but I felt it was too cold and hopeless to ever get invested in {nm} numbersix_99 Jul 09, 08:09

Destiny is a big theme in the film. The first line lays it out, everyone is F***cked {nm} Moviesnob Jul 09, 09:14

Destiny is a big theme in the film. The first line lays it out, everyone is F***cked {nm} Moviesnob Jul 09, 09:14

True, but it never veers from that sentiment and hence I never expected anything else. {nm} numbersix_99 Jul 09, 10:35
