What is it that you want?

Posted by: RazorHawk on Aug 24, 10:49 in response to Buy BONDS 19's post Somebody correct me if I am wrong. In all my years @...

Nobody had heard of this movie until a week or two ago when it was already in release.  HSX usually does not issue moviestocks for movies that are already in release (unless their are starbond attachments to deal with).

This movie just announced that it would be expanding wide only a few days ago.

What would be the point of issuing a moviestock for the movie at this point?  How should HSX determine an IPO price? (based on projected delist or based on opening weekend predictions?).

I do not understand where there is a problem here.  A movie suprised us and got missed. It happens from time to time (with limited releases ~ which this movie started out as)  There are 3,000 other stocks listed at HSX for players to invest in.  The only concern I see from the players voicing their concerns is that they cannot make HSX money from this movie.  We should make a special exception about how things are run at HSX... for the sole purpose that players can make a little profit from this movie's release?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong. In all my years @ hsx, there was only one wide release ignored by HSX, and that was Buy BONDS 19 Aug 24, 09:56

yes, it is very very odd why this movie had been ignored by HSX... {nm} Oleg Max Aug 24, 10:04

Why? Nobody had heard of this movie when it opened in just 1 theater in Houston. {nm} Antibody Aug 24, 10:19

you add blockbuster warrants after 2 wknds in release, why not this movie? {nm} Oleg Max Aug 24, 10:21

They're different. I dont have to add BW at all. They're in addition to the MovieStock. {nm} Antibody Aug 24, 10:22

i get that they are different, point is: in a rare case like with this movie, why not add it if its definitely tradeable security? {nm} Oleg Max Aug 24, 10:27

They didn't announce their wide release until Wednesday, too late to establish a market price. I don't want to HSX's IPO price to Antibody Aug 24, 10:36

i see, well that is a good reason, i suppose. thx. {nm} Oleg Max Aug 24, 10:39

thank you, hopefully case closed. those few who are whining, probably arent even going to see it in theater anyways islander Aug 24, 10:40

not nice, islander... If you refer to me as one of "those few who are whining" that was uncalled for. i merely wanted to find out thinking/ Oleg Max Aug 24, 10:48

i dont think the frustration is directed at you, but just the general frustration that this keeps coming up, keeps getting explained, and Moviesnob Aug 24, 10:53

FWIW Oleg, you're not a whiner. Not naming names, but there are some newbie traders here who're bitter over having to sit out 2016 Obama. eallensbp Aug 24, 10:54

I saw it last Monday... decent film...not really pro or con to Obama...just what he's done so far... Flash Aug 24, 11:38

Only someone who has drunk a LOT of Kool-Aide could see that movie as middle of the road. It's as openly partisan as fahrenheit 911 {nm} tawdryhepburn Aug 24, 11:55

If it is "not really pro or con Obama," I expect to see Dinesh D'Souza floating face-down in a river by sundown, because the wingnuts who DTXbro Aug 24, 14:49

But it's supposed to expand to 1,000+ theaters today...seems like that's worthy now, though... but that's just me. {nm} Flash Aug 24, 11:35

The time to IPO a film is BEFORE it's released, not AFTER. A few exceptions can be made, but not convinced an exception should be made here. {nm} eallensbp Aug 24, 13:43

Then there is The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure which DMac is not believing will open wide. Those of you who are in the theaters, Buy BONDS 19 Aug 24, 10:13

I checked yesterday, and only found 1 small theater in the Philadelphia area... like you said, I am not sure if its too early, but thats Oleg Max Aug 24, 10:15

Moviefone is up to 615 already for oogie. Can search by date and unlimited distance {nm} islander Aug 24, 10:19

ok, i got 623... almost there.. {nm} Oleg Max Aug 24, 10:40

OGILV is listed. {nm} Antibody Aug 24, 10:18

In my area, Oogieloves is in more theatres (8) than 2016 Obama (6) or Apparition (4) {nm} JDolphin Aug 24, 12:48

The movie has earned good money and should be listed. A definite bias by the administrators of the game. {nm} kongaloosh Aug 24, 10:35

Not sure if serious {nm} thatpj Aug 24, 10:42

Okay, so if 2016 Obama did WHY WE FIGHT or FOG OF WAR numbers, no one would make it an issue. But because it's doing Michael Moore, {nm} eallensbp Aug 24, 10:43

FARENHEIT 9/11 numbers, all of a sudden ppl start talking bias and politics and . . . chill out guys. 2016 Obama did unspectacular biz until {nm} eallensbp Aug 24, 10:44

major outlets like CBS and Limbaugh talked it up, and then it broke out. HSX DOES NOT HAVE to IPO every single flick in the market. Move on. {nm} eallensbp Aug 24, 10:46

Dmac was behind 9/11 as well! {nm} numbersix_99 Aug 24, 13:22

What is it that you want? RazorHawk Aug 24, 10:49

the movie should be IPO'd {nm} malificent Aug 24, 11:33

ok, what should the IPO price be? {nm} RazorHawk Aug 24, 11:40
