Really? The bail-out for GM and Chrysler weren't perfect solutions - but without them, it wouldn't just be those companies that disappeared,

Posted by: Roger More (a.k.a CaineFund) on Aug 28, 14:18 in response to elchan's post I think the "bailing out of the auto industry"...

but half the North American auto supply chain.  It's not as though companies like Tesla would have been able to ramp up and fill the gaps right away.

The bail-outs haven't gone disatrously wrong either - Chrysler and GM have both restructured and are still in business, and GM is profitable while Chrysler is getting there.

Governments aren't going to get all their money back, but the $25B the US will probably lose on the bail-outs is a pittance compared to - say - the $800B spent on Iraq.  And who knows how much the US and Canada would have spent on unemployment benefits for auto workers if the industry had collapsed?

"Biggest mistake ever" is hyperbole.

Interesting Article on Obama 2016 in Investors Business Daily (see Link) malificent Aug 28, 10:11

It's nothing more than an Editorial. {nm} Antibody Aug 28, 10:16

It is on page 1 of the actual newspaper of which I have a copy. (more) malificent Aug 28, 10:20

it got mentioned by every single report which discussed this weekend's box office that i read {nm} Moviesnob Aug 28, 10:21

Do you really think your "logic" and "information" can help you in this battle, my naive friend? {nm} DTXbro Aug 28, 11:12

Investors Business Daily is not an "actual newspaper." {nm} DTXbro Aug 28, 10:55

Here's an objective review of the film by the LAT that asks Where is the line between documentary and propaganda? Antibody Aug 28, 10:31

Objective and LA Times, good one. {nm} hawkfanatic2 Aug 28, 10:42

Talk to Michael Moore about THAT. :-) {nm} Flash Aug 28, 10:47

The article covers that Antibody Aug 28, 10:52

lets just state for the record before this descends into madness that all documentaries have bias. ALL OF THEM. Moviesnob Aug 28, 10:55

Moore has never once claimed to be unbias. Obama's tagline positions itself as unbais, when it isn't. {nm} tawdryhepburn Aug 28, 16:11

The authors insinuation that Moore's "truths emerge through the process" is laughable. Scorpion Aug 28, 11:11

That's not an insinuation. It's a statement. {nm} RogerMore Aug 28, 11:23

OK, it's a statement. {nm} Scorpion Aug 28, 11:26

Thx for posting! {nm} Richard In G Aug 28, 12:01

Interesting article...and would seem a valid criticism of the film. {nm} Catzan Aug 28, 15:57

Check this user review, from user, "bron-tay", on IMDB, if you really want to know what the movie is about. (************SPOILERS**********) elchan Aug 28, 11:06

Novel, premise, but until Obama does anything close to as injurious to our interests as invading Iraq, letting Afghanistan drift or botching DTXbro Aug 28, 12:30

I think the "bailing out of the auto industry" may turn out to be the biggest mistake that the US and Canadian government perpetrated on us. elchan Aug 28, 13:27

Bigger than Iraq? That's daft with risible icing. {nm} DTXbro Aug 28, 15:26

The interesting thing about Obama/D'Souza is that Obama is president and D'Souza is muttering bitterly from the sidelines. DTXbro Aug 28, 11:09
