Does the studio think GURDN is a smart hollywood get together like the Avengers ?

Imho theyre missing the point that Iron Man, Hulk, Cap etc all had their recent screen successes before they were grouped for that film. ( yes I know the avengers is a comicbook title on its own )

But this gathering is so out of the blue... these cartoon characters don't have a fanbase out of recent succeses. 

A film with a grouping of Shrek, Ice age-characters, Smurfs and whatevercartoonhit will probably be marketable... much more than this anomaly.
