Bonnie and Clyde (1967, A-) The Barrow Gang is presented as a ragtag modern family trying to find an alternative for disintegrating society.

In the Heat of the Night (1967, A) Characters of all colors struggle with misguided pride and racial prejudice. When movies still mattered.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967, A): Old Hollywood aesthetics meet New Hollywood morals in a timeless and touching comedy of manners.

Safety Not Guaranteed (2012, D+) The mildly interesting concept is rendered moot by needlessly quirky characters and tonal inconsistencies.

The Exorcist (1973, A) is still a relentless thrill machine. The slow, meticulously meandering exposé would be unthinkable in modern cinema.

Brave (2012, B) This Disneyesque fairytale with feminist overtones is well executed but lacks Pixar's emotional depth & visual restraint.
