I really don't mind sequels and prequals if they are done well. At least the studios are throwing money and tallent at them for the most part unlike say the sequels to Superman, where they basically pissed a franchise away and in my opinion it still hasn't fully recovered. But I have high hopes, again, for this current reboot. It's still a money grab but now they try to milk the cow for as long as possible before turning it into hamburger.
What do you think? The whole prequel-idea of any movie-blockbuster is allways dissapointing to me {nm} JMT-NL Dec 13, 07:42
Wow... my internal message didn't come through. Was a rant about how I hated Starwars 1, 2 and 3 ( the prequel trilogy ;-) JMT-NL Dec 13, 07:51
I except in the case of "The Hobbit" which was first published on 21 September 1937, J R R Tolkien then started writing in stages from The Mogul of the Rings Dec 13, 08:17
How big of a blockbuster does a movie have to be to count? And does something like Godfather 2 count since it has some prequel aspects? {nm} Paul2k Dec 13, 08:11
Don't know really... but Godfather part 2 is a great exception to this. What a film !! JMT-NL Dec 13, 08:16

Not counting re-boots like Casino Royale and Batman Begins and Star Trek, X-Men First Class is probably the only good, recent prequel RogerMore Dec 13, 08:23
Rise of the Planet of the Apes is the only good one I can think of. X-men 1st Class was okay but felt unnecessary. {nm} numbersix_99 Dec 13, 08:30
Oh yes, that was good too. {nm} RogerMore Dec 13, 08:54
The apes prequel was great ! Lets hope they dont make a part 2, 3, 4 and 5 JMT-NL Dec 13, 09:20
How about Star Trek (the reboot/prequel) and Rise of the Planet of the Apes? {nm} Abraxas Dec 13, 08:30
yup...it's all in the execution {nm} tealfan Dec 13, 08:36
It's all in execution, most prequels are money grabs, if the studio puts a bit of effort into it, they can be good. {nm} LanceStorm22 Dec 13, 12:58
