True, however if there are a few good movies that are opening, the lesser one will most likely not have as good an opening weekend...
because people will opt for the other movie instead. If you have interest in a movie, but there's a movie that you have more interest in seeing, you might wait a few weeks rather than seeing it opening weekend. If there isn't anything else new coming out, then there's a greater chance that people will see it opening weekend rather than waiting. I've heard from a number of people who are not what I would call "fans" of Michael Jackson, but who are planning on seeing the movie. Since there's nothing else new out this weekend, they will most likely see it this weekend.
