Did the average player even know about this WalMart Presale? No. And all it's doing is over inflating theater business for the weekend.

Posted by: hankquinlan on Jun 16, 21:52 in response to RotoHockeyYTD2013's post Here's Why The HSX (SUPR2) Adjust Decision Was A Bad...

You could tack that money on any old time; why at the beginning of the run? All it does is overinflate actual ticket buying that happened from the movie's real opening anyway. It does not add to the portrait of the movie's business over the weekend.

And why didn't anybody bring up this presale BEFORE Thursday night? I'll tell you why: because it was a complete non issue until it was brought up, because A) Nobody here was in on it, it wasn't enough of a known commodity to be brought up (generally speaking, although there will undoubtedly be people who chime in after the fact telling us all about their strategy of holding it one way or the other because of it), and B) once the news of it appeared on the boards, it helped drive the price of the movie UP UP UP. And that's all part of the overreactionary tendancies that you see each and every day in the marketplace, pure and simple.

To me, all that presale did was overinflate what happened at the box office this weekend, and I think it was a good idea to keep it from the total. It didn't help me long, but that's okay.

I hope it happens but I know that it will not; odd that I missed the thread will viewing SUPR2. I don't want charity I truly believe damenchipguy Jun 16, 17:14

Here's the explanation - they had to wait until today to see how ERC reported the whole weekend. Now, lets move on. {nm} Moviesnob Jun 16, 17:19

Dude. Get over it... eyescovered Jun 16, 17:21

As razorhawk pointed out below, the adjust question was discussed (and to my mind settled) on this board Friday afternoon. second gary Jun 16, 18:04

ERC does not determine how the box office is reported (the movie studios do) RazorHawk Jun 16, 19:10

Retroactive changes have happened before - this time it hit you, suck it up and move on like the rest of us had to in the past {nm} JDolphin Jun 16, 18:14

If you are going to go strictly by the calendar and rules, then maybe the 12 mil shouldn't count at all in the adjust (reasoning inside) JDolphin Jun 16, 18:27

Exactly. {nm} eyescovered Jun 17, 04:06

*shrug* That's the way it goes. I'm ready to move on. {nm} mrbeankc Jun 16, 22:02

so are you saying Thursday should now be considered part of the weekend?...that would be a whole change of policy {nm} tealfan Jun 16, 22:27

Regardless profit or loss, the Rules shouldn't be changed retroactively. Period. {nm} yenchex Jun 16, 22:35

That was the exact Point. {nm} RotoHockeyYTD2013 Jun 17, 05:33
