Coming from the U.K., where the film will land on January 3rd, the trailer introduces our story, which is based on the life of Eric Lomax (Firth), a man who found himself the victim of torture on the part of interrogators in a Japanese POW camp during World War II. (played by War Horse‘s Jeremy Irvine in flashback scenes.) After years of haunted memories, his wife, Patti (Kidman), staged a reunion with one of his captors, played by Hiroyuki Sanada. Stellan Skarsgård rounds out the cast as one of Lomax’s friends from the war and one can see the promising first trailer below for the film that doesn’t have U.S. distribution yet.
