Has anyone ever seen (or skipped) a film on opening weekend based on how they hold the stock?

I admit to holding off until Sunday to see some films that I have held short in hopes of not bolstering it's OW BO. And others I have made it a point to see on Friday or Saturday to increase its OW (by a little bit). I sometimes encourage family and friends to do the same.
Anyone else?
