I probably won't see LVBON, and have already seen UPAIR. Won't Peter Jackson have a huge fanboy turn-out, though? One quite above what

Jason Reitman can expect? I believe UPAIR will do numbers that are around what Thank You For Smoking did. George Clooney has more star appeal and appeal on women than Dennis Leary, but on the other hand, Thank You was more of a real comedy, and was released during far better times, financially. So there'll be a push-pull regarding what factors come into play.

And like I've said before, the limited roll-out could actually hurt its chances, so I'm not sure why they're doing that.

I wonder how much of District 9's success can be attributed to Peter Jackson's name attached to it, btw. I believe that might have meant a *lot*, and will help LVBON considerably as well. But as far as its actual subject is concerned; isn't it basically a retread of themes he touched upon eons ago, in another life, so to speak, with Heavenly Creatures... ?

LAT: 'Up in the Air' gives Paramount a marketing challenge. Antibody Nov 30, 10:22

its an interesting point; I just got laid (not really) or sosmeone I know, why don't I go watch a movie about it {nm} sneak Nov 30, 10:29

It is a cakewalk compared to Lovely Bones. ;) {nm} notfabio Nov 30, 10:50

Well....... I believe LVBON will do mutliples of the numbers UPAIR will do. But both will be massively marketed on directorial merits... {nm} Facto Nov 30, 11:04

both films are to down ( subject wise ) to make them longs for me. ( how's that for an early gutcheck ?) {nm} JMT Nov 30, 11:09

These are pushpull-films allright. And what was the value of the LOTR-hitdirector in bringing succes to the last KingKong ? JMT Nov 30, 12:20

King Kong was a modest success, wasn't it? It just performed below what fanboys on HSX hoped for. Avatar is already in big trouble, I think. {nm} Facto Nov 30, 12:24

"This movie could either be cathartic or, because it hits so close to home, people may not want to spend two hours Facto Nov 30, 11:49

Can this info be correct, though? Paramount will spend $40M promoting a movie that cost $25M to make.. ?? Seriously... ??? Facto Nov 30, 12:08

That's normal for a studio wide release these days, plus an Oscar campaign. {nm} Antibody Nov 30, 12:17

Ok - good to know I can learn substantial new things here on HSX still, on any given day :-) {nm} Facto Nov 30, 12:21

Clooney looks dreamy in the ads. 'Nuff said! {nm} leo21 Nov 30, 16:52
