The religious market had a very high degree of trust in Gibson. Aronofsky is more of an unknown quantity especially in terms of the direction he might be going with it (e.g. a fantasy with a climate change message). 

Crowe is a bigger star than Caviezel was at the time.  However, Caviezel was at least equal as a draw to the religious market because he was known to be quite religious. So star power of the lead is at best (for Noah) a wash I think.

What Noah loses in the religious market the movie has at least some potential to gain from the epic, fantasy, disaster movie market. I'm skeptical that many lefties and non-religious will go just for any climate change theme.

How true this is. I still see no reason for them to take offense to the movie. The trailer looks pretty good and I may go and see it myself, pennystocks2 Feb 04, 11:22
