It's very difficult to predict the North American market's tastes etc from over here in Europe, I find - our preferences are different.

Movies that bombed or otherwise disappointed domestically, might still do quite well or even make it big in Europe and/or Asia + other markets.
We're behind the curve regarding, or out of touch with, the things about certain actors, themes, movie tropes, directors etc, that the home audience in the US (especially, but perhaps also Canada) are on the ball about.
