see that in this trailer.  I remember a racoon spitting and Chris Pratt using the middle finger, the latter I did find somewhat funny, but that's because I'm a fan of Parks & Rec.  If you call that the downfall of society apparently you haven't seen nearly as much as myself.

Idiocracy was a hilarious film that sometimes feels true to where the world is headed with the Kardashians, Housewives, etc. crap ruling television these days.

The difference here I believe is you're absolutely not the target audience.  There are movies for different genres and apparently this isn't yours.  Smart people whom are fans of these genres set the proper expectations and allow themselves to "let go" and a enjoy a film like this for what it is.  This isn't Les Miserables or 12 Years a Slave, so why hold it to those standards?

It seems you're holding out hope to return to cinema on the wrong films if the last two you have seen are Elysium and Hobbit 2.  There were plenty of truly exceelent films in 2013 and you're missing out if you're avoiding because you think everything put out these days is crap.

While I can agree the Thrones is great and Breaking Bad is the best show of all time, it's hard to hold credibilty with me when you say a show like Sons of Anarchy, Justified, Banshee or even Homeland are "EXCELLENT".  Sons of Anarchy to me might be one of the dumbest and most unrealistic shows ever.  I could shoot holes through that poorly made show all day.  But again, I'm not the target audience and I get that.  I don't say that the people viewing it are going to be the downfall of western civilization because they enjoy it.  That sir would be rude.

Hopefully that makes sense to you and doesn't come off as pretentious or condescending.

[GOTGX] trailer Moviesnob Feb 18, 21:06

Confirms an Imax 3D release which shouldn't be a surprise at this point but still {nm} notfabio Feb 18, 21:09

I am very excited to see it but there is still something off with the pacing/tone (similar to Thor 2 stinger). The music and humor seem odd {nm} GMov Feb 18, 21:22

What a bunch of a-holes {nm} Bubba_Fett Feb 18, 21:24

Spaceballs 2. :) {nm} Antibody Feb 18, 21:24

I'm a Marvel groupie but yikes...I hoped they actually saved the best punchlines for the movie... tealfan Feb 18, 22:18

love the raccoon with folded arms guy. looks like schhhhhhhh {nm} DASavage Feb 19, 04:47

Batista wwe. Lol {nm} mike255 Feb 19, 05:00

I have no idea how the film will open or be received, but that's actually a damn good trailer. Pratt doing the Downey Jr. thing. {nm} lobogotti Feb 19, 05:22

"Damn good trailer". Really? With a middle finger joke and all that stupidy? What's the target audience? 12-year kids with no brain? FabioParme Feb 19, 07:21

I didn't say the film would be good, nor do I have much faith. Whoever cut the trailer did a very good job of offering comedy, action and lobogotti Feb 19, 07:38

If what you said is truth, and that most sites sare saying GOTGX is a good trailer, then I'm happy to be in the minority FabioParme Feb 19, 08:23

pretty wide range of opinions, but i think the trailer did a good job setting the tone of the film, introducing the characters, and a making Moviesnob Feb 19, 09:00

The trailer reminded me that awful Ben Stiller superhero movie - Mystery Men FabioParme Feb 19, 09:11

I honestly think you're picking the wrong movies if you're only seeing hobbit and Elysium. Last year was one of the best ever. Moviesnob Feb 19, 10:29

I had plans to watch Gravity, Captain Philips and Wolf of Wall Street, but with so many disappointments lately, I can wait for the DVDs FabioParme Feb 19, 11:12

Wow, congrats! Just hang in there and be patient. TV is great these days, but so are movies. {nm} Moviesnob Feb 19, 11:30

none of those three films will disappoint. here's my list of top 10 from 2013, along with a lot of other films I really enjoyed... lobogotti Feb 19, 11:42

Wow. Actually looking at a list of the flicks of '13, I'm impressed with how many I liked. A lot of those HMs were very excellent. {nm} Willroast Feb 19, 23:10

Not pretentious or condescending at all, but you can't trash SOA!!!!!! FabioParme Feb 19, 09:29

it's my wife's favorite show and I'm sure Jax has something to do with that. :) {nm} lobogotti Feb 19, 10:18

Jax has this effect on women. My wife loves the show as well! {nm} FabioParme Feb 19, 11:07

she's on their FB page and has a couple TShirts as well. I can also say that many of my friends watch this show, a few love it very much. {nm} lobogotti Feb 19, 11:10

Last time I was in US in May, I bought SOA T-shirts for my wife and I. Got the one with the Reaper. Pretty awesome! FabioParme Feb 19, 11:22

I'd also suggest The Killing (I've only seen the US version) and Luthor (BBC). {nm} Willroast Feb 19, 23:14

btw Fabio, try these shows if you haven't seen them yet... lobogotti Feb 19, 11:12

The Wire and The Sopranos I saw them already. I'm watching True Detective as well. Boardwalk Empire I quit after the pilot FabioParme Feb 19, 11:19

Orphan Black was a very good first effort. look forward to what they can do. BE is slow at first, but the 2nd half of the 1st season lobogotti Feb 19, 11:29

I guess The Walking Dead is also a guilty pleasure for me. So much hype, monster ratings and the show is average at best FabioParme Feb 19, 11:36

I doubt I will ever stop watching TWD, but like you said, it's average. I want it to be so much better, but it's okay that it isn't. {nm} lobogotti Feb 19, 11:44

It has so much potential, but I think the shows lacks a bit of purpose FabioParme Feb 19, 11:55

agreed! {nm} lobogotti Feb 19, 12:03

You guys have hijacked a GOTGX trailer thread. Start a new one on the Life Board :) {nm} Antibody Feb 19, 12:15

think we're through now, but sorry about that. it was initially about GOTGX though and morphed into TV interests. {nm} lobogotti Feb 19, 12:26

Man, at 35, and no offense, but I hope you come around on the cynicism bud. There's way more time to hate stuff once you actually get old. {nm} Willroast Feb 19, 23:08

Hoonka-Chaka Hoonka-Chaka ! {nm} RazorHawk Feb 19, 07:45

This trailer is EXACTLY what it should be... and that is a good thing carywhitt Feb 19, 08:03

yes, I think they made the right decision to give Pratt a Downey Jr. vibe, and allow him to be a smart-ass. lobogotti Feb 19, 08:14

Will be a great summer movie...Marvel has another hit on their hands. I'm all in... {nm} gbcox Feb 20, 22:39

wtf @ the price falling! I like the trailer. Looks better than Captain America 2. {nm} CactusLand Feb 19, 15:33
