Probably DC meant to say their movies would be grim and dark and somber as opposed to Marvel's light and fun.

But that would be DC, unable to do a simple press statement while the biggest movie of the summer comes from Marvel and it features at gun-toting racoon and a talking tree.

HF: WB apparently has a "no jokes" policy for the DC Cinematic Universe Antibody Aug 27, 09:40

Does this mean they will leave the joker out of any future Batman stories? {nm} Dorfman Aug 27, 10:32

Why so serious {nm} Dorfman Aug 27, 10:33

It's all a joke Dorfman Aug 27, 10:36

Because the 3 Nolan Bat-films have made over $1B. The serious Batman has made more than every other individual superhero. {nm} Antibody Aug 27, 10:43

Yeah.. But the 3 Iron Man movies have also made over $1B Iron Man 3 alone made over 1B world wide {nm} Dorfman Aug 27, 10:48

If you want to get down to the decimal, the 3 Nolans made $1.2B, so serious has grossed more money than wisecracking. {nm} Antibody Aug 27, 10:52

I was including foreign. According to Box Office Mojo. 3 nolan films world total was 2,455,434,075. 3 Iron Man 2,418,696,729 Dorfman Aug 27, 10:59

Man of Steel made $291M domestic, GOTG is at $255 and counting. One of the two was serious and has been around for 75 years. Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 11:04

WB has what works for them. Marvel has what works for them. One doesn't disprove the other. {nm} Antibody Aug 27, 11:08

What works for DC is Christopher Nolan. Marvel has success across the board. {nm} Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 11:51

Nolan produced MoS. Nolan guided DC as Feige guided Marvel. {nm} Antibody Aug 27, 11:57

Diane Nelson is feige's equivalent at warner. Not Nolan. Nolan just directs and produces. {nm} Moviesnob Aug 27, 13:30

It's likely Geoff johns is stepping into that role, but not 100% yet {nm} Moviesnob Aug 27, 13:36

She may have the title now at the Comics, but she doesn't have the creative control over Nolans/Goyer in film. {nm} Antibody Aug 27, 13:41

she does over the DC cinematic universe including batman and superman. Johns is moving into that role as hes a comic book guy. {nm} Moviesnob Aug 27, 14:31

Somehow her bio doesn't give the impression she has the film greenlighting and director firing power of Feige Antibody Aug 27, 15:25

shes the closest to feige right now in terms of managing the big picture, but shes not feige {nm} Moviesnob Aug 27, 15:29

That's a bold move, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off. {nm} Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 10:49

Flash without jokes ? {nm} gogreenytd Aug 27, 10:36

Maybe that doesn't count for tv shows. HAHA {nm} Dorfman Aug 27, 10:37

agree on Bats, Supes and WW... but Flash is funny. Green Lantern had jokes :) Too bad it was not a Flash movie with that cast. {nm} tribality Aug 27, 14:02

Meanwhile, over at Marvel... {nm} Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 10:36

Their doing the Happy Groot Dance {nm} Dorfman Aug 27, 10:37

WB is the Dean Wormer of comic book movie studios. NO MORE FUN OF ANY KIND!! {nm} Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 10:42

In other news from HitFix - JGL will be doing a cameo in Man of Steel {nm} reelreptile Aug 27, 10:45

He needs the work after passing on GOTG for SINC2. Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 10:52

What role was JGL going for in GOTGX? {nm} tribality Aug 27, 14:03

Peter Quill {nm} Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 14:07

Please let it be him playing Morpheus/Sandman...please...and not "Robin". *stares wistfully into the distance* {nm} Paul2k Aug 27, 17:22

maybe they should change that to "minimal jokes" because even the Nolan movies had jokes here and there...Bruce & Alfred banter... tealfan Aug 27, 12:02

eh {nm} Dorfman Aug 27, 13:03

Probably DC meant to say their movies would be grim and dark and somber as opposed to Marvel's light and fun. Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 13:41

HAHAHA Not that big a deal.. if you think about it most DC hero's were more serious than Marvel anyway. {nm} Dorfman Aug 27, 17:11

DC Supes always seemed more serious to me than Marvels. Dorfman Aug 27, 17:13

Serious is one thing, somber as a funeral is another. {nm} Bubba_Fett Aug 27, 18:54

I think it's great that DC and Marvel aren't sharing the same cookie cutter. {nm} RogerMore Aug 27, 14:16

agreed. and I prefer the serious tone. I do like the Marvel films, but they aren't like the Batman trilogy. {nm} lobogotti Aug 27, 18:46
