Normal? Well, it's predictable. Blockbusters that far from release move in response to short-term factors.

The stock price, this far away from adjust, has almost nothing to do with expected gross. Most owners have large portfolios, and buy and hold shortly after the IPO, riding it to release. Some follow more actively, jumping on upward or downward twitches in price to make profits off of momentum trading. Every now and then, that snowballs out of control - which is what's happening right now. In an hour, or a day, or a week, the Nantucket Sleigh Ride will be over, and it'll turn around. But trying to predict when that will happen is a fool's errand.

SPID4 down $35 in 24 hours for a one month push back in shooting date? Is this normal? {nm} bennyboy10 Jan 06, 08:03

The funny thing is that we don't even know how much it will be pushed back (if at all)... wasn't supposed to start shooting until March secretstalker Jan 06, 08:09

Have you been reading? Production is pushed back at least 3 months. Actors are looking for other jobs. {nm} Antibody Jan 06, 09:54

That's the best case. If Sargent's rewrites are not good enough, it's gonna be off 2011 entirely. {nm} Antibody Jan 06, 09:58

Sargent's rewrites on the last film were to bring in Venom, so it'll definitely be the changes that Sony prefers. {nm} notfabio Jan 06, 10:21

The question is, could SRAIM walk away if he's not happy with the forced addition of Black Cat? {nm} Antibody Jan 06, 10:26

Maybe they'll bring on JCAME instead, since they couldn't get him for Aquaman 3 {nm} bennyboy10 Jan 06, 10:35

As fleeting as Directors/Actors/etc can be, SRAIM is not going to walk, or he would have done that long ago {nm} bennyboy10 Jan 06, 10:37

Variety said it was indefinite? {nm} Borat Jan 06, 08:17

Don't make sense. It'll still make tons of money. But, I'm riding that profit wave! {nm} eyescovered Jan 06, 08:18

THR says "Production still could begin by this summer." That's the best case, Antibody Jan 06, 10:06

Point is the market's overreacting. I'd understand a $10 drop, but $40 this rapidly is insane {nm} bennyboy10 Jan 06, 10:09

Not if SPID4 is likely to be pushed back to 2012. Nothing in 2012 is priced that high. {nm} Antibody Jan 06, 10:12

How big is your Short on SPID4? :-) half-joking {nm} bennyboy10 Jan 06, 10:15

if you didn't short it all in on this news, based on its past reaction to the previous rumor of postponement, then dont get mad at those who ndmaster Jan 06, 10:41

im not mad at anyone, but when a price drops this far, it should be based on heavier news bennyboy10 Jan 06, 11:09

the magnitude of the news isnt really the big factor i think. think how many hundreds (thousands?) of traders were holding it {nm} islander Jan 06, 11:14

exactly, and the same stock did the exact same thing just about a month ago ndmaster Jan 06, 11:39

You're blaming me for explain the news to you? {nm} Antibody Jan 06, 11:19

I'm not losing money, sorry though for pointing fingers :-( wasn't trying to make it personal {nm} bennyboy10 Jan 06, 12:22
