"We brought it to theater owners first, and this is the dirty secret, I asked them "What do you want me to do?" I said I'd do whatever they want. I brought it to some big gun theaters and said, "If you guarantee me six weeks of trailer play, we will decide today to not build in a VOD date." They all said no.
Nobody knows that part, which is the irony of it. The movie's done now, so we can talk about it, but the truth is they all said no. But, there are also a lot of big studios that passed on the movie at Cannes, so I understand that. It's speculative to conceive this as a wide release.
