A number of reasons this is almost certainly untrue.
First of all, TheWrap reporter in a December article about Superbowl trailers that Sony did not buy any adspace for this year's Superbowl. Even if they had (which they would've done months and months ago -- adspace for the Superbowl sells out before December), I have never heard of a Superbowl trailer being yanked because the price tag for those is in the millions. Even if they theoretically lost confidence in the movie, they would just spend less elsewhere, not yank a spot that would at this point be edited, vetted, and sent to the network, at a cost of millions.
Secondly, this is Sony's big-budget tentpole release for 2016. It's January and there isn't even a theatrical trailer yet. In this scenario, Sony tests it once, this far in advance, when the effects wouldn't even be complete, it fares poorly, and so they...give up? They have five months to re-edit it, and Feig comes from Apatow's line-o-rama school of comedy, so there's no doubt he has material to work with IF it got poor scores. This is a $150 summer blockbuster. Even if it is bad, there's no "abandon ship" option here.
I've talked to a couple of LA folk and nobody heard anything about a Ghostbusters test screening. It's possible one happened, but the OP isn't even the person who was there and the entire rest of the report sounds flimsy at best. Don't buy it.

well that's a bummer, the cast on paper should be very funny {nm} shaunwins Jan 25, 14:31
Ghostbusters II probally looked funny on paper. {nm} RazorHawk Jan 25, 14:58
Yup. I had been wondering why I hadn't heard more buzz about this movie. Assuming this is true, I now know why. {nm} shaunwins Jan 25, 15:01
thx for the info...I guess Paul Feig is weaker with non-R material {nm} tealfan Jan 25, 15:07
Doesn't explain "The Peanuts Movie." {nm} chosenone2oo5 Jan 25, 16:22

Wouldn't surprise me, but source? UConnHusky Jan 25, 15:47
You'll have to take it as a rumor... THXER Jan 25, 16:07
That is not the reason that a trailer hasn't been released yet {nm} RupertPupkin Jan 25, 18:55
Alright, I'll bite. Why hasn't one been released yet? {nm} ~JPV~ Jan 26, 07:14
