If anything, I think I was wanting more craziness which would probably make it less "real" though. And as far as Bobby Canavale. Yes, he is incredible when he amps it up. Boardwalk Empire was full of interesting and aweseome charactors and, even in that crew, I felt like Canavale easily stole the scenes. Fingers crossed that this show picks up steam ala most HBO shows.
