Anyone else surprised SHISL is only in 2,500 theaters? Can a movie succeed (say more than $100MM) in so few theaters?

According to BOM's tables, 47 / 265 which have opened over $30M were on less than 3000 screens. MBFGW never played on more than 2016.

Interesting stat, thanks. Yeah, MBFGW definately was a unique case. Looking through that list though there are a handful that opened

Why wouldn't Paramount get the film (which seems to be tracking well) into more theaters? They must have decent hopes for it given ad budget

Dear John was listed in 2400 theaters right up until the day before opening when it jumped up to closer to 3,000.

That doesn't give me hope, but 8 Mile opened in 2,470 theaters and grossed $51m, so it all depends on whether it can hit a nice theater avg
